Yesterday, I completed a new painting and here it is. The central figure was sketched about two years ago when I first had the idea but it was left on my pad and I forgot all about it until I went to start a new painting in July and found the sketch. So, as I like to finish things before starting something new, I decided to prioritise this painting.
It’s the first time I’ve painted in the style of a religious icon, it was a learning experience and I really admire this highly decorative style. A religious icon is an image made for meditation and contemplation. This painting depicts the next potential evolution of Homo Sapiens, as Homo Luminous, a being with a physical body but existing with a greater connection to our light body, our ascended self living on an ascended Earth.
The serpent represents the primordial serpent and the healing of our sensual and sexual energies. The kundalini energy represented by the serpent is moving between the root and crown chakras with ease.
The coloured discs behind the spine of the figure are depicting the twelve rays of light that originate from the source of the Creator, here integrated with the energy of the human body. The figure is full of white light, seen bursting out at the third eye and heart. This is the light of the soul, united with the physical, emotional and mental bodies. I have depicted the person as androgynous, standing for female or male for a future time when gender is not as much of an issue.
The three figures in the painting give a nod in the direction of the Holy Trinity, but more specifically, the baby is the Divine Child, that aspect of the human that is the core of divinity. The figure on the left is the Elemental, an energetic being that supports and connects the human to the Earth reality, tending to our energetic health and wellbeing throughout our earthly existence. The Elemental Being and the Divine Child are already with each of us but, in Homo Luminous, they are acknowledged and embraced.
Finally, the four pointed star on the right represents the STAR messages and our natural receptivity to all the wisdom of the heavens. For Homo Luminous, any information we require can be received with ease as we open to the flow from the other planes.
There’s a fair bit of metallic paint used in this picture which doesn’t come over that well in a photograph and it’s not been varnished yet, which will bring out the colours much better.
I hope you enjoy the painting, it’s called ‘Homo Luminous’.
